Getting back into the groove
For quite a while I wasn’t really drawing or creating much art. Every now and then I’d work on a small painting or sketch, but wasn’t creating art nearly as much as I did previously. I think it was a combination of lack of inspiration after deleting most of my social media accounts, and the increase in illustration I was creating during work. After sketching during a major portion of the day, working on personal illustrations just wasn’t very appealing.
I have worked on quite a few sewing and crafting projects in the meantime which has been a really enjoyable experience. Learning how to sew my own clothing is really fulfilling, and getting to wear something I’ve created feels pretty great.
Though over the past few days, I’ve been getting back into painting and drawing after switching up the materials I was using, and being inspired by some artists online. Thought I’d share a few paintings I’ve worked on recently, after discovering the magic of mixed media sketchbooks. Why did I never use one of these before!? They’re definitely a game changer for me. I still feel pretty stiff with my mark-making, but am hoping to loosen up as I get into the swing of things.
It feels good to be back.
